 | Over the west doorway of the tower (pictured above), are carved the arms of the Bishop of Worcester, flanked by those of Buccleuch and Queensbury.
The only ancient features remaining on the outside and the south doorway, probably date from late 12th century. | There is also some re-used stonework suggesting earlier lancet windows left and right of the door. The carvings adorning the Victorian windows show a rich variety of vine, foliage and animals, mostly derived from the fantastic bestiaries of the middle ages.
